Meet Your Dentist..
Dr. Essig
Dr. Denny Essig moved to Nanaimo after completing dental school at the University of British Columbia in 2002. This was a coming home for the island boy who grew up in Black Creek and graduated from High School in Nanaimo. After High School, Denny broadened his horizons by traveling and living in Montreal while attending McGill University and completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Immunology. Once finished, he moved back to the West Coast to complete his education in dentistry at UBC. It was during this trip back to his roots where he met his wife Jayne, also a born and raised island girl. They now have a beautiful son and daughter & look forward to providing family Dentistry in Nanaimo for years to come!
Dr. Heide
Dr. Greg Heide has been practicing dentistry since he graduated from the University of British Columbia faculty of Dentistry in 1981. He has resided in Nanaimo since 1984 after relocated from Northern BC. Greg's hobbies include studying history, golfing, and going to the theatre with his wife Cheryl. He also enjoys traveling and dining out with friends and family. Greg has a very loyal patient base whom he looks forward to seeing at Dover View Dental.
Meet Our Dental Assistants:
Simone - CDA
Simone is our rock! She has been a certified dental assistant for 25 years and has worked with Dr. Heide for 22 of those years! Simone keeps the clinic humming and is dedicated to providing top notch health care to patients at Dover View Dental. She enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with her grandson. We are very fortunate to have her wealth of knowledge and expertise at Dover View Dental!
Lisa - CDA
Lisa is a member of Dr. Essig’s team at Dover View Dental. She graduated from the dental assistant program at Malaspina University in 1991. Her energy and positivity is always appreciated by all who meet her! In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, camping, traveling, and of course, Shopping! Lisa enjoys interacting with and getting to know the patients, which is why she is so great at what she does!
Karen - CDA
Karen became a certified Dental assistant in 1988, after completing the program at Malaspina University/College. Since then, she has had the pleasure of working with Dr. Heide and more recently Dr. Essig. Karen enjoys camping with her husband, gardening, and bird watching. She is looking forward to seeing the many longtime patients as well as new patients at Dover View Dental!
Meet Our Hygienists:
Lise - RDH
Lise is originally from Mexico City, where she was a few courses short from becoming a dentist when she met and married her husband and moved to Nanaimo in 1983. Unable to have her education recognized, she redirected her studies to Dental Hygiene. She graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1987 where she received scholarships for clinical excellence and academic performance. That same year, she returned to Nanaimo and began working with Dr. Heide and more recently, Dr. Essig. Lise has served as President of the Upper Island Dental Hygiene Society and has volunteered in numerous community projects. Besides her commitment to her clients and profession, her passion is her family! Lise has been married for 22 years and has two wonderful children. She is also very close to her family in Mexico where she recently spent one year to fully expose her children to the culture and language of Mexico. We are very proud and honored to have such a knowledgeable and experienced Dental Hygienist at Dover View Dental!
Danielle - RDH
Another Ontario native joins us at Dover View Dental! Danielle joined our team in November 2006 after relocating from Baxter, Ontario where she graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at Georgiah College. Danielle enjoys working out, reading and cross-stitching! She also loves to visit with friends and family, especially her two little nephews! Not only does Danielle bring new energy to our office, she is also an excellent hygienist and will provide you and your family with the best care possible!
Katherine(Kat) - RDH
Kat is our weekend warrior! Since Dover View Dental is open two Saturdays a month we were able to have Kat join our team for those days! We wish we had her more often but we’ll take what we can get! She is a wonderful hygienist and if you can not make it in during the week, just give us a call for a Saturday appointment! Kat is also and animal lover and a big SPCA supporter! She has two great dogs who she loves to go out hiking with. She enjoys the West Coast climate after relocating from Ontario with her husband. Kat graduated from the Dental Hygiene program in Hamilton Ontario and also holds a Bachelor of Science degree. We welcome her wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to our clinic!
Meet Our Receptionists:
Patti
Patti is Dr. Essig’s extraordinary receptionist and has been working with Dr. Essig since 2002. Born and raised in Ontario, one of 11 children, she moved to Vancouver Island in 1995 and Nanaimo in 1997. Patti is an avid athlete and outdoors woman! She often cycles to work and runs with friends afterwards! Being a dental receptionist is a challenging and interesting profession in which Patti has enjoyed since day one and it is obvious to all that she is still very much enjoying herself at work and beyond!
Sue
Sue has been Dr. Heide’s faithful and dependable receptionist for the past 18 ½ years. Known in the office as Suzie, she has a wonderful rapport with patients and is looking forward to seeing all our patients, new and returning at our new office! Sue enjoys her quiet time and spending her free time with her family and friends. She also enjoys camping and traveling, although she wishes she could do more of the latter. We are very lucky to have Sue as part of the Dover View Dental team.
Jennifer - Jr. Receptionist
We are happy to welcome Jen as the newest member of the Dover View Dental Team as a Jr. Receptionist for Dr. Essig! Jen is an outdoors girl who loves horses and is a Young Rider for Canada in the discipline of Dressage. She enjoys working at the office and learning new skills. Jen also loves children and works part time for the Essig family as a nanny.
